What is done to your
vintage radio or auto
radio:
A complete and free estimate is issued before work starts.
All defective or weak tubes are checked and replaced
All controls , switches, tube sockets, chassis,
potentiometers, band selectors, tube pins, signal and power transformers are cleaned,
deoxidized, and moving parts are lubricated.
All paper and filter capacitors are replaced and only the best
quality metal film capacitors with higher than original voltage rating are
used.
The old capacitors in your set are usually leaky or intermittent,
filter capacitors will have low capacity and high leakage and will cause hum.
Higher than original voltage filter capacitors are used and are mounted on
a small terminal strip under the disconnected original filter capacitor,
which is left on the top of the chassis in order not to disturb the original
radio appearance.
Resistors are checked and replaced if out of tolerance with
higher power rating type.
Radio is aligned to the best signal performance, maximum
sensitivity and selectivity, using a very accurate signal generator.
Old wiring is inspected and replaced if insulation is brittle with
high quality, and color matched wiring.
All power cords are replaced.
Pilot lights are replaced.
Dial drive repaired and calibrated.
Voltages are checked and brought to specification levels
according to service literature.
Cabinet and dial glass is cleaned, and polished.
Repaired product is bench tested for 1 day, just to make sure all circuits
works and there is no problem with components overheating.
Fuses are installed. 95 % of all antique radios have no fuses! If any
component in your set develops a short ( tube, filter or coupling capacitor
etc.), without power supplies fuse protection usually rectifier tube goes and
damages power transformer.
Every replaced, defective part is returned to customer upon
request and understanding, that shipping back will cost more.
All new parts are installed and hidden, while old parts are kept in place
above the chassis in order not to change appearance or antiquity of your set.
Copy of a schematic diagram is available free upon a request.
Speakers will be replaced or reckoned if needed.
We professionally restore and refinish cabinets and
replace speaker grille cloth if requested. Many styles and patterns are
available.
